Senior Frontend Engineer

Tamedia is the leading private media group in Switzerland. The digital platforms, daily and weekly newspapers and magazines of Tamedia offer overview, classification and selection. The company was founded in 1893 and employs a staff of approximately 3,400 in Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Luxembourg and Serbia. It has been traded at the Swiss stock exchange since 2000.

Launched in 1999, 20 Minuten is a daily commuter newspaper for the German-speaking part of Switzerland. It provokes discussion with its news on politics, business, sport, entertainment and services. 20 Minuten is part of the 20 Minuten media network.

We are looking for an experienced website savvy person with an interest in data, and fine attention to detail to help launch the new websites of tagesanzeiger.ch, bernerzeitung.ch, tdg.ch and other newsnet tenants.

Your responsibilities:

We’re rebuilding the different Newsnet Websites (Tagesanzeiger.ch, Bernerzeitung.ch tdg.ch, etc) with a modern stack where you will be part of the team that builds the frontend. Your websites will be used regularly by millions of people on a daily basis. 
You make sure that the websites we build are future proof, well built and tested. You make decisions about the structure of the setup, the build lifecycle, the dependencies and everything else involved in building a modern React based application.
You will work closely with the other frontend engineers, the product owner, designers, requirement engineers, tech lead and other members of the product team but as well with the backend team that provides the data for your frontends.
The successful applicant will feel confident in analysing various solutions, creating comprehensive technical appraisals and making recommendations.

Your profile:

• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON required
• Experience with React JS, Redux and Jest
• Experience with Node and Webpack
• Good knowledge of frontend architecture and experience with Scrum or agile development
• Ability to multitask and self-manage
• Higher degree in Software Engineering or similar
• Proven experience in web programming & optimization
• Excellent knowledge of web design, web development, SEO and backend integrations through REST APIs
• Fluency in English and at least basic German
