FATMAP is a growing Outdoor Adventure Technology Company, building the leading platform for outdoor adventure. We are revolutionising the way people discover, plan, live and share their adventures. Our advanced 3D mapping technology, digital outdoor toolkit and curated adventure guidebook is used by top professionals and a fast growing community of outdoor enthusiasts, to enjoy better, safer adventure.


Your challenge


We face some unique UX & UI challenges at FATMAP. Our product is used in a wide range of scenarios from planning adventures in the comfort of your own home to navigating in a whiteout on the top of Mont Blanc. You'll be responsible for ensuring that our applications work exceptionally well for our users in any situation they find themselves in.


As a Senior UX Engineer you will be ultimately responsible for how our applications look and feel. You'll be working closely with our design, web and mobile teams to ensure that our users experience the best-in-class when it comes to visuals and user experience and ensuring we have consistency across all of our platforms.


Your skills



  • Solid UX/UI skills

    • You're in the know on the latest UX/UI patterns on both web and mobile platforms including iOS and Android.

    • You can work with designers and their tools to build the vision accurately into our products.

    • You can build prototypes to demonstrate designs & interactions to gain feedback quickly.



  • Great front-end technical skills

    • Javascript, HTML, CSS

    • React/React Native

    • Git

    • You can handle all the subtle differences between different browsers and platforms.



  • You've worked with some of the following technologies

    • JS ES6

    • Typescript

    • React/React Native & Redux

    • GraphQL

    • Git

    • Webpack




Your tasks



  • Building frameworks that allow us to craft interfaces that look and feel amazing and have consistency across our web and mobile platforms.

  • Implementing new designs and improving the UX and UI in our current products.

  • Ensuring our interfaces are well tested both via automation and human testing methodologies.

  • Working closely with the designers to iterate on and bring their vision to fruition.

  • Working with the back-end developers to ensure that the required data is available to the front-end.

  • Performing user testing both in-house and remotely.

  • Mentoring our more junior developers.

  • Helping to build on our current engineering processes such as code reviews, pull requests etc.

  • Helping us continue to build our engineering culture.

  • You are somebody that is passionate about crafting amazing user experiences.

  • You care deeply about the user experience to the point that each single interaction is subject to scrutiny.

  • You're a person that can see the bigger picture, you understand why performance and quality is important to our end users and why testing and documentation are important to our wider team.

  • You care deeply about the quality of the work you produce.

  • You can distill complex requirements into a non-complex solution.

  • You have excellent communication skills and can explain complicated problems in an easy to understand way.

  • You are dynamic and can effortlessly transition between the various facets of the company as required.

  • You are a self-starter and comfortable taking the lead on certain aspects of your role.
