Front-End Developer

Description

We are looking for an experienced developer to help our team take creative analyses developed by our data science team and implement them in the front end of our web application.

We are looking for someone to live and breathe our front-end application. Our machine learning and data science team is constantly developing new analyses, and we need people to help us integrate these into our research platform. You will be designing the look and feel of our research platform.

Your days will include:

• Collaborating with our development team to implement innovative analysis in our web application
• Guiding our user experience, and develop the look and feel of our web tool
• Working with our Agile team to help drive a user focused process
• Helping create and integrate clear and compelling interactive and static visuals from our large datasets
• Deploying with our Elixir server application and API
• Working with Kubernetes, Docker and AWS to deploy web applications
• Interacting with users regularly to elicit feedback and iterate on our tools

Requirements

Must Haves:

• Significant experience with web application development tools and systems, including
  • HTML and CSS
  • JavaScript and JS frameworks - primarily React
  • One or more charting libraries: D3, HighCharts, Plotly, Fusion Charts
  • Experience with REST APIs
• The ability to help us create and deploy visualizations to the web
• Familiarity with standard software management tools e.g. GitHub
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you will be working with a range of people, from business executives to DevOps developers

Nice-to-Haves:

• General Python programming skills
• Experience working with large-scale data management and retrieval platforms, e.g. via ElasticSearch, MongoDB, ArangoDB
• Bachelors and/or graduate degree from a relevant academic program
