The Role

Our new platform Volo2 has significant complex front-end interaction with our customers and, although this is a B2B application, we are taking a very user focused approach to our product and therefore front-ends. We are now seeking a Front End Engineer to join our new Scrum team in London.

From a technical perspective, day-to-day you will code front-end components using HTML, SASS (SCSS) and ES2018+ JavaScript via React and Reactstrap. You’ll communicate with our Java back-end via an Apollo-driven GraphQL server and use Webpack and Babel for compiling and bundling code.

As a Front End Engineer, you’ll to be expected to contribute to architectural decisions, working directly alongside our Lead Engineer to decide technical direction, influence our approach to Engineering, promote and implement new technology, and constantly ensure stability and high performance of our Front-End applications.

What we need
To be successful as a Front End Engineer with us you must have a background in creating single page applications using any modern JavaScript framework, such as React, Angular, Vue or Ember, where you contributed to decisions on technical design and tooling. Ideally you will have knowledge of React.

You should have excellent JavaScript fundamentals, and also know HTML and CSS thoroughly. You will have experience with CSS pre-processors. You should have worked with UI/UX designers projects and helped drive a user-centric approach to UI design as a result.

You will be passionate about testing and confidently unit test your own code. We’re big believers in Agile and so you’ll be happy embracing this approach.

What you’ll gain

Significant investment into Volo2, new customers and new markets mean we’re scaling fast, so for the Front End Engineer there is plenty of real potential to grow and develop in line with your interests and career goals. For the right, driven individual, that will mean a clear progression path.

We are looking to shift the entire function towards a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach and general DevOps culture, whilst already utilising mature CI/CD pipelines. That means direct exposure to tools like Gradle, Jenkins and Docker, within a rich AWS environment.

You will get an opportunity to diversify your skillset, adding React and GraphQL to your repertoire. You will also be working in technically advanced development environment on long-term greenfield projects.

In order to ensure that you are always well prepared and able to produce industry-leading solutions, you will not just have access to the latest technologies and tooling, but you’ll also be actively trained and developed in all leading-edge techniques.
