BarBooks is an Australia-based legal tech startup. They provide leading practice management software for barristers and clerks and are rapidly expanding globally. They have helped thousands of legal professionals save time and money managing their practices and chambers so that they can focus on what they do best, and excel. As they continue to grow their customer base, they are looking for a talented and driven Senior Frontend Software Engineer with React.

The biggest challenge in the Senior Frontend React Engineer role: you will be working closely with not only the development team, but also the product, customer success and leadership teams to build amazing features and products for the existing BarBooks platform in Australia. They’ve also launched in a new market (UK) so there’s a lot to do! It’s a modern system, working in a fast-moving environment. The main goal is to make it responsive and pretty for new users, respond to their feedback and make it more stable and scalable and the same time. 

Your tasks:

    • Design, code, test, debug software and enhance existing/new components.
    • Conduct internal code review and code optimisation.
    • Focus on responsive web design (RWD).
    • Perform impact analysis of changes to software.
    • Requirement collection & documentation, application support, onsite and offshore coordination.
    • Work in modern JS, Typescript, HTML5 and CSS3.
    • Usage React, Webpack and Babel.
    • Design UI/UX and work alongside an inhouse Graphic Designer with strong attention to detail and an eye for layout aesthetics.
    • Support the rest of the development team.
    • Maintain trust and empathy with the international development team.
    • Facilitate execution of tasks oriented towards the team’s goal.
    • Help with planning and execution of most valuable projects.

What you’ll need?

    • At least 5+ years of frontend software development experience.
    • Expertise in modern JS, Typescript, HTML5 and CSS3.
    • Previous using React, Webpack and Babel.
    • UI/UX design experience, working alongside an inhouse Graphic Designer.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and an eye for layout aesthetics. 
    • Expert knowledge of responsive design, web standards and cross-browser compatibility issues.
    • Experience in unit & integration tests (using test frameworks such as Jest, Enzyme, Mocha, Chai, Supertest etc.)
    • Experience with source control (git), OOP, design patterns, SOLID, clean code, etc.
    • Experience in Agile methodology.

    • Nice to haves:
    • Previous experience in using Angular or Vue.
    • Knowledge in using AWS.
    • Experience with MySQL and RESTful APIs.
    • Experience with a mobile-first approach and React Native.
