Vectara is looking for an entrepreneurial front-end engineer to join our growing front-end engineering team. This team is responsible for implementing the user experience of our flagship product and our marketing site, and for maintaining our React component library.
Vectara provides a scalable Large Language Model (LLM) search-as-a-service platform to help our customers achieve blazingly fast semantic search results. Our founding team includes industry veterans and experts in neural information retrieval and distributed systems from Google.

Your Skills
- You’re effective with TypeScript and React. You’re also comfortable contributing to a WordPress codebase written in PHP and scripts written in Bash.
- You communicate clearly and effectively in writing.
- You're comfortable solving ambiguous problems with a methodical approach.
- You seize the initiative and find problems to solve. You're able to help understand the broader business context of these problems and are a great partner in driving their prioritization.
- You’re curious and love to learn new things!

- You’re excited to solve challenging engineering problems in the browser with JavaScript and TypeScript. Your work shows that you understand how to analyze and decompose problems. You know how to methodically design and implement high-quality, maintainable solutions.
- You also have experience articulating your thoughts in writing, through RFCs, design docs, or other documents. You understand how to organize and present technical information so it’s accessible and useful to the audience, regardless of the audience’s technical background.
- You have a track record of using these engineering and communication skills to achieve great outcomes for engineering teams, businesses, and users. You’ll continue to build upon this track record at Vectara.
What success looks like
- You’ll report directly to the Head of Front-End Engineering, but your relationship will be as partners. You’ll work closely together: pooling information and opinions, and defining engineering priorities and plans together.
- As a member of the front-end engineering team, you’ll share responsibility for our flagship product, marketing website, React component library, and OSS codebases.
- You’ll team up with product managers, designers, and back-end engineers to implement broad enhancements and new features in the UI of our flagship product. You’ll independently seek out and propose improvements that will unlock growth and enable productivity.
- Beyond our flagship product, you’ll partner with cross-functional leaders such as Product Marketing, Developer Relations, and Growth Marketing, and seek ways to apply your skills to their problems in these sibling domains. You’ll help these folks build the front-ends for demos, OSS projects, and marketing materials.
- By creating successful outcomes throughout our front-end function, you’ll become known as a technical leader within the organization. As the front-end team scales, you’ll have options for how you’d like to develop your career: you can grow in technical seniority or move into engineering management.

Salary is just one component of Vectara’s employee compensation.
