Pollen

At Pollen, we work with world-famous artists like J Balvin, Justin Bieber and The Streets to curate unique multi-day experiences in locations such as Miami, Las Vegas and Amsterdam that you can’t book anywhere else. Our aim is to run experiences that contribute to 3 out of people’s top 5 memories. During Covid, we’ve brought our strategic plans forward and we’re ready to provide memorable experiences for everyone as it becomes safer for people to travel again - it’s an incredibly exciting time with lots of experiences coming up between now and the end of the year, and beyond.

The team

The Acquisition team’s mission is to drive high-quality traffic into the Pollen purchase funnels. We create engaging public pages like this one that advertises experiences, capture interest, and lead to bookings. They are the first page that customers land on and are highly performant, built to support large spikes in traffic that are typical when launching an event (for a recent event with Justin Bieber & Friends in Las Vegas, we had ~55k customers interested in the event prior to its launch).

We use analytics and A/B testing to understand and continuously improve the user experience, and lead to more conversions.

We leverage Python & Django to build our back-end services and deploy them to AWS. Our back-end engineers favour a Domain Driven Design approach to building services. We use Graph QL, React and Next.js on the frontend. (More info on our tech stack here)

In this team, your work will have high visibility and high impact - what you create is immediately public to our customers, and our work to acquire and convert customers is strategic to the success of Pollen.

In the next 12 months you will:

  • Contribute towards our company success by growing our existing platform using React, Next.js, React Native, GraphQL, Apollo and styled-components on top of multiple internal services and including external APIs (including integrate various ticketing providers and payment processing platforms).
  • Collaborate with product, design and other teams to gain sufficient business understanding to serve the needs of our clients, customers and colleagues and to support your team members in delivering solutions.
  • Balance the trade-offs of delivering sustainable code that provides an excellent customer experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Model good leadership behaviour by engaging in peer to peer feedback and code reviews to foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture as measured by Spotify-style squad health checks.
  • Use test automation and agile practices to deliver features continuously to production, measured by feedback and daily releases going smoothly.
  • Be trusted with access to all of our production systems and improve our DevOps culture by participating in daily releases and technical customer support rota.
