We are looking for an experienced Android engineer to make Front feel at home on Android and to work on the foundations of our React Native-based mobile app. In this role, you will be the go-to specialist for everything Android-related on our Client Platform team, and you will work with your iOS, Electron, and web counterparts to enable feature teams to ship cross-platform.
What will you be doing?
- Build and maintain Front’s cross-platform client-side codebase
- Improve the Android user experience of our React Native mobile app
- Expose native Android platform APIs to other engineers
- Provide guidance to product managers, designers, and engineers on the Android platform and ecosystem
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other engineers on the team
What skills and experience do you need?
- Proven industry experience building and maintaining fast, reliable, and real-time native Android applications (Kotlin or Java)
- Proven ability and willingness to learn and work with other languages, frameworks, and platforms
- Product minded: committed to building the best user experience
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth environment
- Understand the trade-offs in employing different engineering solutions to a problem, valuing pragmatism over idealism
Bonus
- Experience with reactive programming (such as RxJava)
- Experience with React Native, Android NDK, and/or modern web technologies (JavaScript or TypeScript)
