About the Role 

We’re growing our technology team in order to scale multiple business lines and enhance access to healthcare for Canadians. We’re looking for passionate developers who thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with an open culture and flat hierarchy. 

At Maple, Front End Developers work with both React and React Native to build a unified UX for both patients and providers on our platform. We build out our component libraries using TypeScript, Jest, and Storybook to ensure our components are unified and WCAG accessible at launch. The business logic of our apps is built using test-driven development (React Testing Library) and Redux to ensure we maintain a predictable state – whether the user is in a live chat, a group video call, or simply booking a follow-up appointment with their doctor.

You’ll develop your technical and leadership skills as Maple scales up its mobile applications to support our mission. You are someone who enjoys thinking creatively, solving challenges, and coming up with fresh ideas to design the world’s leading virtual healthcare platform.

Responsibilities

You will:

• Contribute to architecture and system-level decisions.
• Implement features and user interfaces for the Maple web & mobile experience.
• Turn beautifully designed specifications into reality.
• Help organize and manage weekly sprints.
• Write maintainable, modular code.
• Write tests for your code.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and non-technical teammates (e.g. operations, business development) to deliver legendary user-facing products. 

Required Skills 

• At least three years of experience developing in modern Javascript. 
• Can mentor other developers on best practices, functional programming techniques, and solving complex asynchronous problems. 
• Production level experience with:
  • React or React Native
  • Redux or other state management tool
  • Typescript
  • Automated testing

• Salary: $125,000 to $150,000 CAD annually
• Performance Bonus: Eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
• Equity compensation: Available subject to board approval, to be discussed.
