The Investment Engine Technology team at Bridgewater engineers systems to understand the world.  These systems synthesize and industrialize our global understanding into a hive mind of macroeconomic knowledge which enables us to educate and collaborate with the world’s most influential central banks and policy makers and carefully and strategically manage the world’s most important capital.  Our technologists are engineering highly available, high performing and highly secure cloud platforms and infrastructure which support and scale our investing operations.

Client Service Technology

The goal of the Client Service department is to provide world-class, unmatched service to our clients solving their most difficult
investment problems and planning their investment strategies. Embedded within the Client Service department is a uniquely
talented technology team building the tools that enable and enhance the way Client Service’s business users research markets and
portfolios and interact with clients. These tools tackle problems from data pipelining, to portfolio logic, to data visualizations.

Position Responsibilities

The Sr. Front End Engineer will focus the majority of their time (~70%+) on the frontend development of these tools, but must also be able to understand and contribute to additional areas of the stack as the role requires frequent collaboration with engineers such as our backend teams building tools from the platform level, security engineers designing our systems secure architecture, and UI/UX engineers designing the ultimate product.  Users of the technology in the Client Service department are extremely sophisticated researchers and advisors who are also technically savvy and work in a deep partnership model with the engineers.  Our goal is to build highly functional, beautiful, and intuitive technologies which ultimately drive, scale, and enable our abilities to provide an unmatched level of service to our clients.

Preferred Requirements

• Strong computer science fundamentals with experience working across the entire software stack with a focus on the front end
• 7-10+ years professional software development experience in technically rigorous environment building externally facing user-focused products
• A deep understanding of the React Native stack
• Experience with extremely complex systems and a fluency with contemporary programming languages, patterns, and architectures
• A keen ability to interact with highly sophisticated users to understand their needs, use cases, and pain points
