Job Description:

The Client is seeking a consultant for 12 months to create a new React app for mobile website for customer information with options to get realtime and offline information about travel plans, train information/locations and realtime information about incidents. And Create similar React app for desktop website for internal use to be used as a dashboard, to include all features of customer-facing app with other features, as well, including visualization of consists, consist positions, realtime animations of train movements, track-level location details and train turn information.

The role of the consultant is to ensure that the applications meet compatibility standards and performs well with existing client systems.  Successfully passing the application will mean stability, compatibility, reliability, performance, and quality in the systems.

MUST SKILLS:

• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, WebStorm/IntelliJ, ES6, HTML/CSS, GitHub, unit testing framework (Jest or other)
• Foundation in front-end/back-end client services technologies
• Experience preferred with Redux framework, Mapbox, GIS/geospatial data, browser animations, Agile/scrum methodology

RESPONSIBILITIES
1)    Create new React app for mobile website for customer information with options to get realtime  and  offline  information  about  travel plans,  train  information/locations  and realtime information about incidents.

•    Wireframes and UX flows will be given to applicant from upstream

•     Applicant must build React app in TypeScript with proper unit testing of frontend logic and functionality

•     Applicant may be required to work directly with GIS data coming from our GIS system, this data may be in WGS84 or projected.

2)    Create similar React app for desktop website for internal use to be used as a dashboard, to include all features of customer-facing app with other features, as well, including visualization of consists, consist positions, realtime animations of train movements, track- level location details and train turn information.

•     App will consume RESTful data and display information on top of a Mapbox map or in another non-map format (such as a list)

•    App will have multiple types of animations (of GIS data, for example) and must be

performant

•     App also must be able to allow end-users to input data that will be sent back to RESTful backend.

DELIVERABLES & DUE DATES

Task 1: Create new React app for mobile website for customer information with options to get realtime and offline information about travel plans, train information/locations and realtime information about incidents 6 months

Task 2: Create similar React app for desktop website for internal use to be used as a dashboard, to include all features of customer-facing app with other features, as well, including visualization of consists, consist positions, realtime animations of train movements, track-level location details and train turn information 12 months

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

•   Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field

•    Strong experience with React, TypeScript, WebStorm/IntelliJ, ES6, HTML/CSS, GitHub, unit testing framework (Jest or other)

•   Foundation in front-end/back-end client services technologies

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

•    Experience preferred with Redux framework, Mapbox, GIS/geospatial data, browser animations, Agile/scrum methodology

•   Optional: experience with React Native, react-map-gl, deck.gl
