Senior Front End Engineer

This is a remote position.

Ad Hoc is looking for a Senior Front End Engineer capable of addressing ambiguity and solving complex problems without technical assistance or supervision.  The ideal candidate will have expert-level capabilities in at least one major technology stack.  They will have implemented web front ends for richly-featured applications using a modern web framework like React, Angular, Vue.js, or similar.  They write frontend code that is highly accessible and maintainable.  They can collaborate effectively with UX designers. They mentor and guide more junior engineers through the development process, including debugging and new skills acquisition. They communicate with stakeholders, other teams, and partners to generate, assess, and execute on product development or integration requirements. 

 

Requirements

• All work must be conducted within the U.S.
• As government contractor, all hires may be required to meet additional pre-employment contingencies to the extent required by applicable law, at the time of hire or any time thereafter
• Some Federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment
• Some Federal contracts require a degree in computer science or additional years of experience as a substitute
• Our technical screening involves completing our homework assignments exclusively - we do not do any form of whiteboarding in our process
• Minimum 6 years of experience in software design, development, architecture and operations
• Bachelor of Science in Technology or Engineering

 

What You'll Do

• Leverage modern front-end frameworks like React to deliver performant and maintainable front-end applications
• Translate mockups and comps into working client-side single-page responsive web applications in HTML, CSS/SASS, and JavaScript.
• Integrate with various back-end APIs, and collaborate with team members to ensure back-end services meet the needs of our front-end systems
• Ship software that impacts the lives of millions of Americans

 

What You'll Bring

• Minimum 6 years of experience developing consumer-facing web applications
• Experience with build infrastructure for large FE applications
• Experience with Webpack, Babel, ESLint
• Experience with CircleCI, or other similar CI infrastructure
• Building applications using a client-side framework such as AngularJS, Ember.js, or React.
• Optimizing client-side web applications for speed and performance.
• Understanding of the fundamental technologies of the web: HTTP, SSL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON
• Proficient spelling, grammar, and communication skills.
• Experience with Node JS and React
• Experience with React
• Experience with Typescript
• Experience and understanding of one or more different agile methodologies, including Scrum, XP, or SAFe.
• Experience building design systems
• Bachelor's Degree
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S now and in the future without sponsorship
