About the role

The Core Platform team looks after our entire suite of applications and services. Our mission is to provide a stable, secure platform both to clients and to other teams within Divido. As an Engineer in the Core Platform team, you'll have a varied and challenging workload. On any given day, you could be:
Helping to diagnose and fix a client issue
Refactoring some existing code to be clearer, or more performant
Writing documentation for our services
Improving our test suites
Reviewing pull requests submitted by colleagues and providing detailed, actionable feedback

We place a lot of trust in our engineers, giving them a high degree of autonomy in managing workloads and defining tasks, making judgement calls on trade-offs to make and when is an important skill. You'll need to be comfortable working with peers and stakeholders to not only implement solutions, but to define the problems, too. Confidence with Node and a strong understanding of JS/ECSMA are a must. As is experience working with an SPA framework (React is what we use, but experience with others is transferable). Experience with Typescript, Next.js, GraphQL, Emotion, Docker, CI/CD is an advantage, but we can help you get to where you need to be with training, support and adequate timelines.

Requirements

    • At least 18 months experience in software development
    • Self starter: If you are looking for a task driven micromanaged environment, we might not be a great fit for you.
    • Familiarity working in an agile environment where the SDLC is still being defined.
    • Ability to work within the constraints of existing legacy projects whilst safely paying off tech debt.
    • A sense of empathy and a desire to collaborate
    • A willingness to learn new skills often in languages and frameworks you may be unfamiliar with: Our back-end Stack is largely PHP and GO services.
