We help brands go global by being local. We are what brands expanding globally do next.

We’re looking for a Senior Front End Engineer. The Front End Engineering team at Localised works on everything from building hyper-localised sites quickly through the use of reusable component libraries, to optimizing software architecture and data flow for sites with millions of shoppers in web traffic, to iterating on web performance issues and bringing features to life that change the way we manage our 8-figure ecommerce business. You will work with React/Redux within a team of 4 engineers, in collaboration with Product, Design and Marketing (business stakeholders), to ship great work quickly in a fast-moving startup environment. This role reports into our Engineering Manager, and is based in the GTA.

You will:

    • Contribute in a meaningful way to front end web application development, taking the lead on key products/features, performing rigorous peer code reviews, etc.
    • Focus on data flow and architecture in a small, agile team with a product and codebase that are growing rapidly; you can balance “moving quick” with “writing quality code”, and understand when to make tradeoffs around the two
    • Collaborate with Product and Design teams to bring new features to life, scoping out technical requirements, troubleshooting and QA’ing end-user issues, and owning your code from ideation to delivery
    • Help us to solve hard technical problems in a way that makes sense for a scaling startup; you will be working across the codebase to solve a wide range of problems, and will be comfortable being as high or low-level as needed to deliver the right solution

We'd love to hear from you if:

    • You are passionate about front end web development, with a senior-level understanding of React and Redux (and JavaScript in general); it’s a bonus if you have experience with TypeScript!
    • You have focused on data flow & architecture in past roles, and are comfortable handling REST APIs, API Gateways, etc.
    • You have solid fundamental engineering knowledge, including familiarity with Git and Agile/Scrum, experience working with AWS/Docker, and exposure to a full stack engineering team
    • You are a strong self-starter, with experience working in a fast-moving (and sometimes hectic) startup environment; you can manage your work around deadlines, thrive under pressure, and are comfortable working in a space where priorities/objectives are often moving/changing quickly
    • You aren’t an a*s; you can work well with others, approach problems with empathy, and find balance between getting incredible work done & being a key member of a team that is always learning and growing together
    • You take ownership of your work; although you take pride in your code, you don’t fall in love with it, you’re open to new ideas and perspectives, and are committed to testing and QA’ing your own features
