Who we are
We help the world make sense of data by exposing the underlying relationships. We make Neo4j, which created the category of Graph Databases, and continues to be the most widely used product in the space. Graph Databases have seen explosive growth in recent years, due to the power of the graph data model over the traditional relational model. We sell to Fortune 500 companies around the world, and also have a community version available as open source software.
 

What we are doing -> We are building a set of tools to provide for developing applications on the Neo4j Graph Platform. These tools are for:

-creating, running and operating Neo4j databases

-developing data models and graph queries

-building full-stack GraphQL based applications using the GRAND stack

We want the tools to provide world-class developer experience for our users, who are developers with a broad range of backgrounds. A majority of our users develop on Windows, and we are specifically looking to improve their developer experience in our next phase of improvement. We are looking to grow our Windows-specialist experience to meet this goal.

The Role -> You'll be joining the existing "devtools" team that created the popular Neo4j Desktop and Neo4j Browser. We are now working on the next generation of these tools, and creating new complementary tools.

You will collaborate with engineers from across the Neo4j organisation as well as with external developers who use our products. To be successful in this role you will need to develop empathy with those external developers. As a developer yourself, you will know what a difference good tools make in day-to-day work, and so understand the impact that you can have.

We also have a large user base in the enterprise world and prior experience with working within an enterprise environment would be a big plus.

The majority of the applications, tools and libraries this team creates are open source, and we encourage contributions to the upstream open source products that we use. You will have the opportunity to go into the depths of open source technologies such as Electron, Chromium, GraphQL, React, NestJS and participate in the open source community.

You’ll be based in either our engineering HQ in Malmö, Sweden or our office in London, and will travel on occasion between the two. Expect to be pairing and joining design discussions using online collaboration software on a regular basis.

We are looking for candidates who:

• use Windows as their main development platform
• are comfortable working in a team distributed across multiple sites - London and Malmö
• have experience following a development process that includes PR review and rigorous automated testing (unit, integration, e2e)
• have empathy with developers and a passion for product quality
• ideally, have experience of using Neo4j
