The Opportunity

Teladoc Health is looking to take its Front End stack to the next level. You will be working with a small and agile team of engineers with a focus on developer experience and integration of multiple atomic systems. This team will be shaping the way forward for future Front End teams and projects, creating the next iterations of the style/component library, driving implementation of new technologies, and creating tooling to ensure smooth operation for everyone using these packages.

Responsibilities

  • Creating the next generation of our design system using design tokens, styling, and components
  • Evaluating current tooling for gaps and suggesting/executing on improvements
  • Writing test suites to support regression testing
  • Gathering feedback, recognizing areas for improvement in developer experience, and planning/executing to make them a reality
  • Actively communicating and working with other platform team members on new features
  • Processing and executing on challenges inherent with highly scalable systems and applications
  • Writing clear and concise documentation for all levels of engineers
  • Ensuring accessibility and internationalization is accounted for in everything that we do

Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with JavaScript
  • In-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS best practices and techniques and working with CSS pre-processors
  • Extensive experience architecting and working with applications written in React
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with an ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Deep empathy for developer experience and takes pride/ownership over what they produce
  • Experience with integration and unit testing using tools like Cypress, Jest, Mocha, Jasmine, etc
  • Extensive experience working with front end build tooling such as Webpack, Parcel, or Rollup
  • Very comfortable working with/in the node/npm ecosystem
  • Experience with open source technologies (either by way of use or research)
  • Strong understanding of code optimization and performance tuning
  • Prior experience with building and releasing semantically versioned libraries to a public/private npm registry for consumption by multiple teams/projects
  • Experience architecting component/design systems and laying down foundational principles
  • Very detail oriented, take pride in and care about design and implementing UIs as they were intended by the design team
  • Has an open mind and is willing to listen to new ideas, create proof of concepts, and evaluate without bias
  • An active thirst for pursuing the "there has to be a better way to do this" mantra
