We are looking for an experienced front-end engineering specialist to help us scale our team. The latest version of our application is built on React with Typescript and a Python backend, but familiarity with the specifics of our tech stack is just a bonus. We value curiosity, a commitment to continuous improvement, and inclusive, empathetic technical leadership. Our product's technical surface is broad; the user experience is elegant and powerful. Under your guidance, we will extend its capabilities while continuing to delight our users and inspire our engineers.
Skills for this Role:
- Proven track record of delivering robust, web based products.
- A keen eye for elegant, robust patterns in front-end code and user experience
- Deep experience building, and creating web based architectures. This role will primarily be concerned with the front-end, but there will be plenty of opportunities to dive into the backend as well.
- Excited about a small team environment

- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable with autonomy and ambiguity that comes with small, fast moving startups
If you're curious about the nitty gritty of our tech: we run our web servers on Heroku and our heavyweight workloads are run on autoscaled EC2 instance groups. Our various backend machines communicate via celery task queues and a Redis temporary store. We store data both in PostgreSQL and on S3. Our frontend is a fairly standard React + Redux app. There are other parts of our tech stack that are less conventional, including parts running WINE, CUDA, and WebGL on the frontend, but we compartmentalize intelligently.
