What’s the role?

We’re looking for software engineers to work on a largely JavaScript stack. We’re using AWS, Node and React, and while we like having the flexibility for everyone to work on any area of the stack they fancy, we’re also respectful that some people enjoy one over the other. We’ll leave that part up to you.

What teams might I work on?

We are ever growing but currently have 9 teams with engineering constituents. People switch around teams occasionally so you won’t be always tied to where you start. All our teams are multidisciplinary, so depending on the team, you’d be working closely with Product, Delivery, Design, UX, Data and Editorial. You’d likely work with some of our international teams too.

The Consumer Experience Group

Atelier - This group create our component library, which are the building blocks for every consumer facing page that a Conde Nast brand publishes. The engineers work really closely with our Design and UX teams to make sure that all our components work in any language, for any brand, on any device.

Fuel - Advertising is the bread and butter in many publishing houses, and that’s true for us too. Fuel work on tailoring our advertising offering to be the perfect choice for our advertisers, and a seamless experience for our readers. Here you’d be working closely with Design and Commercial teams, looking closely at data and performance.

Rocket - Here we’re pulling together the pieces from Atelier and Fuel to create the finished user experience, that gets delivered to our readers all over the world. It’s a great place for people interested in the full stack and keen to work with a big variety of supporting teams.

The Fashion Shows Group

Front Row - Vogue provide coverage of hundreds of fashions shows around the world every year. This team builds the central hub for how our content creators get all that information into one cohesive space. That may be a photographer instantly uploading an image from the runway to the site, or a local team publishing their review of a specific show.

Blue Steel - This is the front end experience for how our readers consume the thousands of images generated at fashion shows.

Chroma - We’re trying to get smarter about how deal with the abundance of imagery that comes through our brands each season. Chroma are looking at how Machine Learning and image tagging can help us better understand the trends in the industry, as well as taking some manual labour away from teams having to do this by hand.

Who are Conde Nast International?

Condé Nast International publishes 128 magazines and 64 websites across 11 countries in Europe and Asia. Our brands include Vogue, GQ, Wired, Vanity Fair, Glamour and Condé Nast Traveller. We’re running a major business transformation, and this is an exciting opportunity to help rewrite how a multi-billion dollar company approaches engineering in the 21st century!

We’re an international team with global audiences, and as such try to reflect as many spectrums of diversity in our teams and work as we can. Conde Nast has existed for a long time, but the International hub in London is still newly formed in the last 2ish years. There are opportunities to help define what we ship and how we ship it. You'll get a rare look at digital publishing around the world in historic, prestigious brands.

What’s in it for me?
