Koru is seeking an exceptional Sr. Frontend Engineer who is excited to contribute to technical strategy and product build of our new ventures. 

As a Sr. Frontend Engineer at Koru, you will turn great ideas into code and turn that code into groundbreaking and beautiful new applications while working across a diverse set of problems with a highly talented multidisciplinary team.

 

You will:

  • Build desktop, mobile, web-based solutions etc. from ideation to MVP and commercialization.
  • Select and run frontend stacks on Venture Teams — React + Redux, Angular, Vue or Svelte? You tell us what makes sense and why.
  • Architect efficient and reusable frontend modules and systems.
  • Be scrappy! Experiment, fail fast, and share your technical solutions and product ideas with your Venture Team.
  • Create and contribute to future-ready, high quality, and performant code bases.
  • Perpetuate a venture team culture that emphasizes best-in-class software qualities including testability, security, scalability, operability, etc.
  • Enjoy working in a diverse, dynamic, collaborative, transparent, environment where everyone's ideas and opinions are equally valued.


You will bring:

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with at least 3 years experience building mobile and/or web apps.
  • Experience building successful web and/or mobile apps from scratch in a startup environment.
  • A proven ability for rapid learning and self-improvement (show us you can learn quickly and de-risk what you don’t know).
  • Very strong understanding of frontend web technologies: HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Good understanding of frontend state management frameworks (React Context, Redux, Vuex).
  • Good understanding of animation frameworks used to create delightful experiences on web and/or mobile (CSS Animations, D3, React Spring, React Native Reanimated).
  • Understanding of modern build pipelines (e.g. Webpack + Babel, Expo).
  • Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g. agile software development, test-driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc.).
  • Performance optimization techniques as they apply to mobile and web landscapes.

It’s a big plus if you have:

  • Experience building mobile applications using languages/frameworks like: Swift, Java/Kotlin/Scala, Expo/React Native, Flutter, Ionic, etc.
  • Enough DevOps / Infrastructure experience to setup, configure and maintain your own dev/build environment, e.g. Docker on AWS etc.
  • Experience building responsive design interfaces for web and mobile.
  • An ability to embrace and reduce uncertainty through continual validated learning.
