Senior Software Engineer

At Replica, we provide urban planners with the tools and data necessary to deeply understand the movement of goods and people.

Replica, originally known as Model Lab, was incubated in 2017 at Sidewalk Labs, an Alphabet company on a mission to radically improve urban life. In 2019, we secured series A funding with backing from venture firms such as Innovation Endeavors, Firebrand Ventures, and Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund. 

Today, we are a lean team with offices co-located in San Francisco, CA and Kansas City, MO and our customers come from public and private sectors across the United States.

The Team

The engineering team is currently organized into two teams: data engineering and product engineering. The product engineering team owns the application code from database to web client and the infrastructure required to deploy it to our customers. Most of the engineering team is based in San Francisco, but we work with cross-functional teams in Kansas City and New York and customers across North America. 

The Role

As our engineering team grows, we are looking for a senior front-end software engineer with 3+ years of experience to help build our single page web application. As an early member on the team, you will balance speed and quality as you build out new features for our customers. 

You will collaborate with engineers, design, research and development, and customers to enable additional methods of querying and create valuable data visualizations for every customer. More specifically, here’s what you can expect to do in the role:

• Build front-end product features inside our product so customers get value from the underlying data set. 
• Work closely with customers to best understand their needs and respond quickly to their feedback. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams at a fast growing startup. 
• Establish testing strategy and best practices.
• Own logging and observability frameworks.
• Actively contribute to company culture by mentoring engineers, contributing to documentation, and actively collaborating with cross-functional groups. 
• Technologies: React, Redux, Node JS, Express JS, Typescript, Mapbox, D3, deck.gl, Python, SQL, Material UI, Mixpanel.
