Intro

We are Nextlayer, a London-based startup building a new way to turn content we consume into long lasting wisdom. We believe that all those hours spent reading, watching and listening should be helping us grow, get smarter and stay ahead of the pack. It’s time learning got an upgrade.

We are starting by launching Sparks, a smart podcast app that helps you engage more deeply as you listen; enabling you to extract nuggets of wisdom, initially from podcasts but growing to all media types in the future.

But this is just the beginning, we need to grow our team and capability to build the accompanying web platform; complete with new ways to process and organise the insights people capture. This is in addition to further developing the Sparks iPhone app and then launching on Android later in the year.

The role

You are a Front End Developer that will own the delivery of any web-based part of the platform. Sparks is currently an iOS app but we will be building a highly interactive web application to support the iOS app.

You will join a small team as the second developer. This will mean being able to lend a hand in different technical areas, for example, supporting the development of the iOS app itself.

As part of an experimental team, you will be comfortable trying out ideas through prototyping and leveraging new methods and technologies; We are learning-oriented, we prefer to release and get feedback/validation early, before refining and scaling. You will be happy working in a continuous development environment, balancing business needs with speed and robustness of delivery.

This is a great opportunity to be part of the team that is shaping the foundations of our platform.
