Senior Software Engineer

The Role 

As a software engineer in our Web Isolation team you will help us move our browser technology forward by solving non trivial problems related to many different areas — network and network failures, performance optimizations, rendering incompatibilities between Client and Server browser, UI for the features of our browser product as well some administrative interfaces, and product integrations with other teams of Proofpoint.

 Your day-to-day

• Implementation of modern web platform features such as WebComponents into our remote browsing solution
• Work on performance optimization of our product on all fronts
• Be a team player in a distributed team environment, collaborate with team members on challenging problems
• Help with debugging services that run across all continents
• Sometimes develop product UI with React.js

 What you bring to the team

 Required skills

• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript and modern web APIs (ES 6, audio, MediaSource extensions, Blobs, Proxy)
• Understanding how networks work: HTTPS + HSTS, WebSockets, limitations that browsers have, HTTP/2 etc
• Hands-on experience with any modern UI framework (Preferably React.js)

 Beneficial

• Go or Java knowledge would be great to have
• Experience developing browser extensions (Chrome API, Devtools Protocol API)
• Experience in setting up and optimizing build systems, such as Webpack
• Experience solving cross-browser problems with DOM, CSS, JS engines etc
• Proven ability to work independently
