THE ROLE
The Risk & Fraud team builds and maintains services and tools for a number of business-critical functions including protecting event creators and attendees from financial loss, unsavory user-generated content, marketplace collusion, account takeover and other types of malicious behavior. As senior frontend engineer on Risk and Fraud team, you will meaningfully impact the experience of millions of event-goers, keeping them safe from malicious activity. You'll collaborate with product, designers, and other business stakeholders to design and implement delightful, friction-free user interfaces. You'll build functional tools that allow events to be run smoothly. You'll mentor other engineers and contribute to a robust learning culture. You'll be proactive, curious and accessible.

THE TECH STACK
The Eventbrite platform is built on top of a service-oriented-architecture running python in AWS. Our frontend application are built using React, with a beautiful Eventbrite Design System to manage styling. For datastores, we lean heavily on MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis. We use Kafka for large-scale data pipelining, and scikit-learn for machine learning.

THE SKILL SET

    • 5+ years of relevant experience in web development 
    • Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6)
    • Familiarity with modern JavaScript libraries (e.g React, Redux)
    • Previous experience working within complex web applications
    • Understanding of clients-side application performance and cross-browser compatibility issues
    • Unit-testing know-how required, experience with TDD or BDD a plus
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field (CS/Math/Stats/Engineering), or equivalent experience

    • A portfolio that displays your passion for delighting users
    • Familiarity with a server-side frameworks such as Django, Ruby on Rails, or Node.js
    • Experience with email template design
    • Experience designing administrative and operational tools
