The Opportunity
The United States spends twice as much as the average OECD country, and yet has the most confusing, complex and costly systems; even as consumer satisfaction with the health insurance and hospital industry continues to remain low. This is not sustainable, and it will require a different approach.
Health care must be redesigned around the consumer, and their needs, so they are fully in charge of their health and care decisions. We’ve bundled together commonly used services that members can now access through one simple and connected digital interface that delivers full transparency on quality and cost data on doctors, facilities and medical procedures.
About this role
We work with employers (our clients), employees (our members), and partners (our providers) to deliver seamless care to our members. We are redesigning this experience to be frictionless and fully integrated, so you can talk to a doctor, make appointments, get your medications, etc. with a single click. We care deeply about building an intuitive and delightful experience - both online and offline. You will define and drive our member focussed product offering and create an industry-leading health-care experience.
In this role, you will...
Have a broad experience with the modern javascript ecosystem
This includes Typescript, React, Graphql, Jest, and Webpack. You will evolve the architecture to ensure that our technology approach meets short-term agility needs and sets us up to scale long term.
Have a strong understanding of web performance and tooling
You know what metrics matter to ensure users have the highest quality experience possible, and are committed to measuring and mitigating bottlenecks that slow us down.
Pride yourself in delivering next level user experiences that redefine modern application design trends
By building a cohesive design system, you take the product experience to new heights, ensuring users are delighted and empowered by our brand. You know the power and pitfalls of CSS and know what it takes to keep things maintainable. You understand the power of transitions and animation to provide rich interactions, and also when not to use them.
Have fundamental knowledge of the asynchronous nature of web applications
You understand how to manage server/client communications with resilience.
Communicate and collaborate as a member of a high performance team
You are able to give critical feedback to your peers to ensure the team is thriving in a fast paced environment. You recognize you have a lot to teach and learn as the codebase grows with the product. You embrace that your success is the success of the team.
About You
- You are entrepreneurial and mission-driven who can present your ideas with clarity and confidence
- 5+ years of experience building products used by real customers
- Loves Typescript with a deep knowledge of React and the surrounding ecosystem of Next.js, Redux, Jest, and hooks
- Appreciates a buttery smooth UX with responsive components built on a styled system cataloged in StoryBook
- Experience with security coding guidelines, HIPAA, and web accessibility (a11y)
Location
You must be authorized to work in the United States. We slightly prefer candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area, but are open to remote work anywhere in the US.
